The Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia was founded in september 1993 by Master Michele Garofalo with the aim to unify all the Italian Vovinam schools under a single association and develop Vovinam in a uniform way throughout the Italian territory.
In all these years the Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia has grown in seven italian regions, has organized competitions at both national and international levels, stages with Vietnamese Masters from all over Europe and Vietnam, but above all has built a team of valuable Vovinam teachers that are constantly updated both in its technical and professional aspect.
Each person who joins the Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia sees automatically recognized its position, level and title by any organization of Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo in the world, but mainly by the Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Federation of Vietnam.
Currently the Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia follows the technical program directly from Vietnam and is a member of the World Vovinam Federation (WVVF), the worldwide organization which brings together most of Vovinam Federations and Associations in the World as well as including all the Vietnamese Vovinam Federation (VVF).
The Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia is also a member of the European Vovinam Federation, holding an important role with Master Vittorio Cera as Secretary and Master Michele Garofalo as a supervisor for the Technical Commitee.
The Federation of Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo of Vietnam, headed by Master Nguyen Van Chieu, recognize the Unione Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo Italia as the official association for the development of the Vovinam discipline in Italy by designating Master Michele Garofalo as National Technical Director.
